Kildwick Hall and the owners of the Kildwick Estate (1559 to 1949) Since the middle of the 20th century Kildwick Hall has had a rather chequered history. It has passed through many hands, with attempts to run it as a hotel, a Country Club and a restaurant all failing, before it was returned to being a family home once more in the 1990s. This series of articles look at the earlier history of the Hall – and the wider Kildwick estate – between 1559 and 1949, when it was the property of the Lord of the Manor of Kildwick. In these 400 years the estate passed, by linear descent down the generations, through just three families: Currer, Richardson Currer, and Wilson. Below is a full list of the Lords of the Manor of Kildwick, in chronological sequence. Click on a name to view further details (to be published in groups over the coming months).
